Old Compaq Presario 1200US Wi-fi Driver problems
I, like probably quite a few others come along TinyMe by chance while trying to find a distro that had video output after HDD installation.
I came across a trick to even load the distro onto XP's root and include them[puppy and D.S.L.] into windows bootloader.....what a mess. Anyway, I cleaned everything up and gave this a try running off of disk.......its everything I could want....no endless tweaking as in XP. That was last night, this morning I created a partition for TinyMe and installed.......alls fine other than getting sound out of the ADI SoundMax AC97 Integrated Digital Audio and network or internet through the D-Link Air DWL-650, the ACT light blinks though, it looks as though TinyMe is linking it to the on-board Realtek wired setup. So far the driver to the D-Link gets an error needing Mandi, which I think I've found and can transport to it by flash-drive. EDIT>>>>>> I got the sound issue resolved, had to run without pulse audio...................very configurable player! I thought I'd ask first seeing how maybe someone may know the fixes, rather than me spending hours if not days possibly making it worse. The XP install is fresh as well with everything working perfect so if I need to borrow, its all there. You may ask if XP works perfect, why bother? At 54 I want to learn more about Linux, this laptop will be used as a surrogate between TV monitor and Stereo. A small linux distro should render video smoother than XP, I hope..............audio is great from XP....Thanks All!! |

RE: Old Compaq Presario 1200US Wi-fi Driver problems
It appears to be the ndiswrapper is not present....fail shows during boot too.
As far as Mandi, I find I can't install mandi nor anything else {vlc-1.1.4.1-1mdv2011.0.i586.rpm} through the package manager from the flash-drive with a traceback "/user/lib/python2.6/site-packages/smart/fetcher.py" assertion error. As I figured early on Mandi isn't the culprit anyway...funny the ndiswrapper doesn't exist during driver install though.........using searchmonkey, I found 14 files relating to ndis. I'm stuck........... |

Sorry I can't help you with your current issue, but I'm working on an updated release which shouldn't have any of these issues.
Please check the Release Announcement before reporting any issues! Please read the Usage Rules before posting! Check out the FAQ!

RE: Old Compaq Presario 1200US Wi-fi Driver problems
Thanks in Advance of the release, it looks as though the adapter is supported by ndiswrapper, it just isn't there.
I'll check back from time to time, Thanks again. |
