TinyMe-Acorn-RC-2010.08.20.i586 will not load
TinyMe-Acorn-RC-2010.08.20.i586. I have a gateway solo laptop 256 ram PIII 60g hd. Wg511T wireless and Dlink wired.

Iso Boots, goes to splash screen choices. Live, fail safe, etc. I have tried every choice. All end in blank screen. I read, many posts. No solutions worked. Downloaded 3-4 iso's from different sources. Used different img burners. All same results; blank screen.

While its booting I can hit enter, or F3 noting happens If I choose safe boot, boot options 3. I get the crazy keyboard layout (one of the posts). Press R get P, O I get r. OMG! ossk = root.

All is good till I get to: Here is the login information for the LiveCD. Tabs User Name, Password, Action. I mean I understand. User name is root password is root. Choose ok; Bingo blank screen.

It's raining, I am bored, so it's cool. I have installed the top ten lite distros. So far the only one that works out of the box is Puppy Linux? Man, bingo finds the WIRELESS. Your up and running. But Puppy does not have the right "feel"? Does that make sense?

Like wireless is a fundamental of a laptop. How can you not have wireless on a laptop? Why is it such a nightmare to load a wireless card? Yet, Puppy make it effortless. 'Course one sacrifices much for ease of use. Ok...enough!

Yes, I am a newbie, vintage 8088 . And for a newbie it's like rocket science to get a wireless card to work! TinyMe and DSL Linux are so promising. All that programming effort? And no wireless? Why Puppy? TOL: Hmmm, I wonder if I can load puppy and figure out what "drivers" they use. Copy them to other Linux versions? What say you?

I can wait for a TinyME distro that works.

Same day, similar computer: Gateway Solo 9150 (PII 266Mhz). Got it up to the desktop using the VESA driver.
Desktop is empty, so no installer. Found it finally via Midori in the folder named 'Desktop'.
Installer however stops somewhere after partioning. I get a question asking to remove unneccesary packages (hardware) and then it just stops (blank screen).
Don't seem to have network either: I'm using a PCMCIA Cardbus.

Ubuntu installes fine but way to slow.

ToOld: I'm honestly not sure why the system would let you log in but then show a blank screen. It doesn't make sense to me.

joheirba: Skip the option to remove unneeded packages.
