Opera Upgrade Help
I have TinyME 2008 Droplet installed on an old Toshiba Tecra 8000 with a PII processor (Just hate to have to recycle the old girl). Everything (including wireless) works well, but I need to update Opera, and I am not sure how to do this. I know that I need the RPM package download, but nothing in the package manager wants to upgrade/update that package. A little assistance would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Opera Upgrade Help
Well, ordinarily I would tell you that I don't support 2008 installs of TinyMe as TinyMe has switched to a new base. However, Opera is a bit of a special case.

Note that I strongly recommend you upgrade to a more recent release. I will be pushing out the final RC for TinyMe 2010 here shortly.

You should be able to upgrade Opera by going to http://www.opera.com/browser/download/, select "Mandriva" for the distribution, "RPM Package" for package format, and download it to your /home. Now open a terminal and run this:

Code:
su
#[give root password]
rpm -Uvh Opera*

If it doesn't upgrade cleanly, then you may have no choice but to upgrade to a TinyMe 2010 release.

Please check the Release Announcement before reporting any issues!
Please read the Usage Rules before posting!
Check out the FAQ!

RE: Opera Upgrade Help
Thanks, I actually wanted to use the 2010 Droplet release, but it appears that acorn is the only one currently out. I'll keep my eyes out for the 2010 Droplet and download when ready. It is an old beater, and I use it on the road for emails and such.

RE: Opera Upgrade Help
First of all, everything you use is outdated. If you are going to continue using the above mentioned hardware’s and software’s, I am not sure whether you are going to get the exact results. The 2008 installs of the TinyMe have already been replaces with the latest ones and I do not see a reason why you should stick with that as well. Anyway, if you are an opera user, I strongly recommend you to update it!
