tinyME 2010 crashes during boot from usb
Using UNETBOOTIN to put the LiveCD image onto a USB stick, it goes well into the boot sequence and just when you think the desktop is going to populate with icons and menu, it crashes.

With a Netbook, there really isn't any other option than to boot from USB.

Anyone have any advice? I'm a newbie to this stuff, so please, if it's technical, providing step by step instructions would be appreciated.

Yep, same results here. We've known for a while that Unity and unetbootin don't get along, but we've been unable to trace the reason why.

RE: tinyME 2010 crashes during boot from usb
Pardon my ignorance, but would there be any other way to install it to SSD?
For example, is it possible to boot with a different Linux, transfer over this one onto the SSD by copying files and recreating directories? (I know in windoze you can't do that, you have to bot with the OS being installed, so the answer is probably "no"... but just in case, I thought I'd ask). For example, botting with a different unity, and then copying the whole file structure over. Any way to install this, create a ghost image, and restore it onto different hardware? I assume hardware detection and drivers will become a major stumbling block.

Also, has anyone tried the Windoze version of Unetbootin, or a different tool to get it onto USB? I don't have a windoze machine, but am willing to install it, or anything else required, on a different machine, if that'll help it work.

Easiest way would be to borrow a usb-cdrom I think.

Sorry, I suppose you might try booting up the LiveCD on a computer, then installing to an SD card from there.

Awesome to hear; I have been wanting to use TinyMe and this is the exact reason I can't, since I was using a netbook with Windows XP and unetbootin.

Could you please clarify if you meant to say the next fix of tinyme2010 or if you meant next release 2011?

First time I read this I instinctively thought you were going to fix this version... now I realize this is possibly not what you meant.

I've decided to move away from associating a release with a year. Rather, the releases will be named year.month.day
