Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
I put Tinyme RC 8/20/2010 on a USB stick using LinuxLive USB Creator 2.5. I have not had any major problems doing this in the past for testing live linuxes (don't have to waste a cd). Probably 95% of this live linuxes I've tried work this way.

The issue I'm having is it saying the "bootlogo file too big".
I get this error either booting from the stick like normal or running as a virtual machine. I've attached a screen-shot of the virtual machine.
I haven't wanted to waste a cd so far, so don't know if it works that way or not.

That is very odd, as TinyMe is developed inside VirtualBox. What version of VBox are you using?

RE: Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
Version 3.2.6 r63112 LinuxLive usb creator downloads Virtualbox before installing to USB, so I would assume it's pretty recent.
But as I said, it also happens booting from the USB stick normally, (push power button, bios boots usb). Vbox was just the only way to get a screenie.
Generally don't have a problem booting from usb, when/if I have problems it's after linux has booted, something about how it's configured doesn't like running from usb.... but that is rare.

When you reach the boot prompt, try typing "LiveCD" (no quotes and it is case-sensitive)

RE: Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
Tried, and variations of it, no luck.
I made sure the md5sum was good on my download, it matches.
I played with Tinyme before, and I liked it, but it's really not worth this much effort to me, I've got other distros I use. I just don't understand why it won't boot from my usb stick. Huh

RE: Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
I know there was an issue with the Unity 2010.1 release (upon which TinyMe is based) and UNetBootin. Let me see if I can find another method by which you can boot from USB.

You could try using Synergy-installer from here

RE: Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
Hmm, if Tinyme has a problem running off usb, and Unity has a problem running off usb (I tried it for giggles), then how is another Unity based disto going to work any better, when there seems to be a known issue?
Of what I'm seeing, it appears to be some issue with the bootloader (or how it's setup), not linux, because we aren't getting that far.

I haven't tried Tinyme yet but I have regularly run Unity and Synergy off USB. Your problem seems to be the software that you are using to make the live USB.

Later.........

Just to prove a point. I'm writing this from Tinyme running live from a USB stick.

BTW I made the live USB with Synergy-installer.

RE: Boot logo problem, RC 8-20-10
I used this with MANY other distros, and and I've also used Unetbootin in the past. The Unity based stuff has really been the only one I've had major problems like this with. I'm not prepared to blame something that has been working between PClinuxOS based, Ubuntu based, and Debian based (which all covers several distros), and Puppy before and after they went ubuntu based.
I guess I just won't worry about Tinyme/Unity stuff, it's not worth messing with, just wanted to see how it was.
