Tiny embedded install
I'm trying to setup TinyME on a cheap internal flash drive used as an ssd, but I'm having trouble getting the size small enough. Is it possible to wedge TinyME into less than 440mb, or should I be sticking with some form of puppy?

I'd install the live image to the disk, but I need to be able to save basic configuration files and the like. Just enough to make it end-user friendly.

I'm currently installing on a PIII-M 866mhz with 256mb ram with a semi-functional hard drive. However, the hard drive is just to give me the extra space to fine tune a primary install image, which I'll copy over to flash.

I'm looking to upgrade the ram a little, right now 396 is looking the most viable.

Um, yeah, I'm sad to say this, but if we're only talking about 440 MB, then you should stick with Puppy. The upcoming Droplet release might fit in that space, but I doubt even then you'll have any space to install programs.

And to forestall a question which seems to get asked every single time, no, there is no timeline for the Droplet release.

RE: Tiny embedded install
Ok, thanks. I will soon have this massive stack of PC Card ata flash drives I managed pick up off ebay for a song. Space for extra programs isn't really a problem, as all the end user needs is a browser with java and flash, along with a word processor.

I just like the idea of setting up the perfect environment, dd-ing it over to the flash card, and popping it as many PCs as I like.

I'm basically after a live distro with an option to save settings, and I liked the big, bold graphical interface of TinyME. I'm going to see about building a custom modified Arch this summer, but that's more for my personal use. I may have to fork over the cash for a CF card as a cheap ide hard drive substitute.
