Add Firefox to Tinyme please
I love Tinyme, It's the live-cd I've been searching for. However, Tinyme's Midori is unstable. It won't access Yahoo Mail or Aol Mail. Also, Midori has a bad habit of spontaneously closing and randomly kicking me all the way out to the Tinyme sign-on.

Although, when I download and use Firefox my problems are completely solved.

Any chances of adding Firefox or replacing Midori? Huh

RE: Add Firefox to Tinyme please
Firefox itself is out of the question, see http://tinymelinux.com/doku.php/faq#why-...e-firefox. It's bloated.

Some users have reported issues with Midori crashing and I have had a couple of reports that disabling scripts fixes the crashing.

I personally would much prefer to have Opera, but Midori is so tiny (~500KB) it's hard to justify using anything else.

Please check the Release Announcement before reporting any issues!

Iceweasel is the debian-based non-bloated version of Firefox. CAOS, another rpm-based OS, using this.

Here's the source code
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/mai...rig.tar.gz

Here's the current debian patchset
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/mai...-1.diff.gz

I'm not sure as to the dependencies that will be pulled by this package though.

Also don't forget the translations Wink

PLD Linux's source rpm for Iceweasel can be found at:
http://ftp.pld-linux.org/dists/th/PLD/SR...-4.src.rpm

Also, GNU Linux now has Icecat as a similar varient of Firefox.

RE: Add Firefox to Tinyme please
I personally love firefox and all the extensions that come along with it, but I really don't think it belongs in TinyMe. I don't like Midori either and think maybe a return to Netsurf might be better. But c'mon people, think for a sec. Adding firefox would defeat the whole purpose of TinyMe in the first place and its incredibly easy to add any browser you want after installation. Opera, Chrome, and just about any other you can think of are all available in the repo and its as simple as downloading and running a script to install Swiftfox (a nice little non-bloated firefox optimized for many different processors). Instead of taking up more room with a larger browser it would make more sense to add more small apps and increase functionality ootb. Maybe gtkam for digital cameras or xfburn (I know, still kinda big for TM) as a burning app. Xpat2 might be cool as well. Just my 2 cents.

P.S.- Thanks for the latest lxpanel KDulcimer. It was really nice to get my volume control back. Its a small thing but I like it better than volwheel which I never did get to work right.

I know this may sound strange, but NetSurf is actually a bit bigger than Midori. Not only that, but NetSurf doesn't have as much functionality as Midori.

You left out Flock. It's a Mozilla-based browser.

TinyMe 2008.0 had GThumb for managing pictures and cameras. I thought about adding it to TinyMe 2010, but it's just too big with all the dependencies. Not only that, but they've started a new development series and I don't care for the UI.

Big Grin RE: Add Firefox to Tinyme please
Thanks for the feedback guys. So I guess Firefox is out of the question.

Since I'm using Tinyme as a live-cd running completely off ram, making changes is a bit further than I expected to go. I might as well keep installing firefox after each boot.

I've been searching for older versions of Tinyme. Perhaps with Opera.
Is there a copy out there somewhere for me to download?

Thanks and fingers crossed,

Ben
