Just saying hello
Hi TinyMe people,

I just thought I'd drop by and say hello and to say how much I'm enjoying using TinyMe.
I installed a distribution of Linux (I forget which one) about 15 years ago and it took me the best part of a day to figure out. TinyMe was smooth and fast and it works!
I only say it like that because I'm not a computer guy, maybe a litttle more than the average user, but just a little.
Anyway, I've just salvaged a laptop that was going to be tossed away. 256 ram and an apparently knackered CD drive. Even when you just look at the desktop, its hard to believe its such a small installation. It looks great.
I will primarily be using this laptop for writing (I pen Science Fiction short stories) but I'm also looking forward to finding out more about what TinyMe is capapble of.
Thank you for creating it. I feel so much more of a sense of freedom than when I use Windows. Please bear with me and my limited computer knowledgeSmile

Cheers,

David

Re: Just saying hello
Hello drt, welcome to the community. TinyMe is a thing of beauty, isn't it. :Smile But seriously, nice to see a new face around. Hope to hear more from you on the forums. Feel free to post any questions and/or join us on the irc channel. #unitylinux on freenode.

The machine turns, turns and must keep on turning forever. It is death if it stands still.

Re: Just saying hello
Thank you.

I have Ubuntu on another older laptop(a bit more powerful than this one) and I run a version of Puppy from a USB stick but I'm glad that I came across TinyMe on my distribution(is it ok for a newbie to say distro? It almost sounds too cool for the likes of me!) hunt.

I do find Windows to be slow and intrusive, though for now I will still be running it for music production as my set up would take quiet a while to migrate to anything else, and I'm not that smartSmile

Anyway, major kudos to the creators. As someone who is mystified by computer programming, I can only imagine the amount of work that goes in to making this stuff click.

Smile

David
