Use the MemTest!
Tinyme is being used on a lot of old boxes. That's why it is important to make sure that your computer is working properly.
Monday after doing an update, I couldn't reboot. The bootloader was gone! I was blankety-blanking Tinyme. After trying to reinstall and screwing up my whole config, I decided to do a Memtest.
Bingo! I had RAM problems. My old Armada had passed the Memtest 3 weeks ago. But old things break down. I'm 60 so I should know.
Some say you should run that test all night but I'm usually happy with a couple passes.
If, like me, you've never seen it before, when it finds a bad section it turns red and stops. I opened up the laptop and pulled one board out. Put it back together and ran Memtest for a couple hours. It passed, so I'm assuming I pulled the bad one. I got another bigger one on order.
It isn't always Tinyme's fault.
