OpenOffice gone from repositories after update
I just did a new install, and everything went fine. Whet I updated she system as recommended in the required reading, OOo vanished from the list. Does anybody know how to fix this or how to install OOo from their own website?

Re: OpenOffice gone from repositories after update
Go to Synaptic, and install back openoffice. If it shows that it is installed, just reinstall it then.

It's not in Synaptic. And it was never installed on this machine.

Re: OpenOffice gone from repositories after update
I've noticed this, too: OpenOffice seems to be absent from the repository since I updated my system this morning.

A Google took me to the following thread on the PCLOS forum; I wonder whether it's of relevance:

Re: OpenOffice gone from repositories after update
Normally I wouldn't recommend this, but you can go to the OpenOffice website or go-oo.org and download their package, which is a bunch of RPMs in a tarball. Download the tarball to inside a new folder. Then right-click on it in the file manager and choose "extract here". Press F4 to open a terminal and run this:

Code:
su
#[give root password]
rpm -Uvh *.rpm

Next, we'll fool RPM/Apt/Synaptic into thinking that OpenOffice isn't installed. I think this command should do that:

Code:
rpm -e --justdb `ls *.rpm`

Re: OpenOffice gone from repositories after update
After reading that thread over at PClinuxOS forums................ Now I understand why OO is not in the repos.

I wanted to use this older laptop at the court house for searching their records and typing my search results into a spreadsheet, and since they will not let me bring my newer laptop in because it has a web cam on it.

I can wait for OO to appear in the repos again.

KDulcimer  any updates on the progress of Unity Linux?
