New to TinyMe
Hi all,
I'm new to TinyMe but not to PC Linux OS. For the past eight months I been using PC LOS 2007 and Gnome on my desktop and no windows. I don't remember how I came across TinyMe but here I am typing this message while using the livecd of TinyMe 2008.0 on my older notebook (IBM Thinkpad T20, pent III 900MHz, 256MB ram). I think I'm going to delete windows (2000) from the notebook and try TinyMe. I don't have a lot of Linux knowledge but I'm glad to be apart of TinyMe family. Even if it's a funny name. Re: New to TinyMe
I am new to Tiny Me but not new to Linux.
I have been using and 'distro-hopping' mostly Debian-based OS' but, still needed a good small OS for my 'old' laptop. I found Tiny Me a few months back and downloaded the iso.files but never could get it to boot. Last week I found Tiny Me 2010, Acorn Beta 2, downloaded and installed it onto my laptop. It worked!! Easy install and a very nicely put together desktop. The only other time I've used Openbox was in CrunchbangLinux, and it was difficult to learn. In this version os Tiny Me, Openbox was a breeze. Even found my local WiFi, easy to configure and set-up. Gave my old Gateway M-2310 new life. This laptop survived a major Windows crash last year, even tried re-installing XP from disk but it was a 'no-go' I did manage to get an old version of PuppyLinux to install, but I found the Pup too light and inadequate for my needs. Thank you Tiny Me Devs and Team for a great job!! |
