Install freezes
Hi!

I am installing this distro after reading this review: http://www.abzone.be/Review001_p001 ...

My hardware is similar (almost the same) to the one in the review...

The Live starts fine, I also did a media check (ok), but when installing (custom partition or any other option) the install freezes when copying files at about 80% done... there is no error mesages. the CD drive spins, and nothing happens...

Can you please suggest me some possible solution?

Re: Install freezes
Press Esc to view Verbose Mode while it's booting up and see where it hangs.

Re: Install freezes
Oops, sorry.

Open a terminal and run this:

Code:
su
#give root password
draklive-install

and see where it hangs.

How much RAM do you have?

Re: Install freezes
I never let the computer decide anything for me if possible, especially when it comes to something as important as partitioning your HD.

Re: Install freezes
Ok, I've prepared the partitions (4g: /, 1g: for swap)...
Began the setup/copy...
There was some "noise" that indicated copy (cd-drive, and hdd sounds...)... And then again, at about 80%, the cd-drive began to spin at full speed, and it hangs...

At the instaler: copy in progres

I must say, that on this pc i've already had varios versions of windows (98, 2000, xp) and linux distros (xubuntu, zenwalk, xandros, puppy...) all running fine! Now that i found this distro, that i realy like visualy and its very fast (even from live cd) i can't install it Sad

Re: Install freezes
dba

I have the same problem on a re-install of TinyMe 2008 and  have tried over 60 times to install TinyMe.  Twice I have installed TinyMe - I had problems later that corrupted the OS that required another re-install.  One thing I noticed after hanging at the 80% or 99% of copying completion, was I could shut down the PC (laptop in my case) and bring up the install again while keeping the original 80% or 99% copied files on the hard drive (without formatting the hard drive).  The TinyMe installation would install at this point after many tries to do -  this is no where near desirable, but it can be installed if one wants to keep trying long enough.
