Chinese Input Method
I am not sure how much of TinyMe users are actually using chinese language in their daily life. But as a chinese, able to input and read chinese is one of my important requirement in my OS. Actually I found that TinyMe handle Chinese much better than PCLinuxOS, probably because of the desktop environment used. Well, this is what I do in order to be able to input chinese and read chinese character in a more readable way.

1. Input the fcitx and fonts-ttf-chinese in Synaptic.
2. In the PCLinuxOS Control Centre, choose System -> Select the language and the country or region of the system.

Now, it have to depends on you. Personally I prefer to be able to read and input Chinese while remaining in the english locale system.

3. Choose English(American) -> Next -> Other Countries -> Input Method -> FCITX -> Next -> Finish.

As of the new PCC after the big update, FCITX is no longer an option in Input Method if you choose English. Things have to be done manually. Open the /etc/sysconfig/i18n as root and add the following lines to the end of the file.

Quote:GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
XIM_PROGRAM=fcitx
XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx

4. Finally, reboot and you will have the Fcitx input method. Open any apps and press the Ctrl-Space combination key to input the chinese and Ctrl-Space again to switch it back. (You can also click on the small tux icon the Fcitx bar to activate and deactivate.)

Last note, I prefer Fcitx over SCIM as I think it is more compatible with most of the softwares. You can try SCIM if you want to. Install scim-pinyin instead of fcitx. And in PCC, choose SCIM -> SCIM-PINYIN instead of FCITX.
